Three years ago, Charlotte Buchannan suggested transforming an old wall into a work of art, and that vision continues this weekend in the form of the third annual Artery. In the past, themes have been still life and water, and this year’s is icons — “from soup to saints,” as Buchannan says. Artist Alice Guffey-Miller has chosen to dedicate her canvas to Barbie “because she’s an American icon. This year the Artery panels will be created from a variety of media including oil, acrylic, mosaic, iron work and recycled found objects, according to a press release. The festivities are part of “An Adventure Into Art” weekend which includes the second annual Artists Studio Tour.
