Joe Strappiello, the owner of Antonina’s restaurant in Lexington and one of the vendors, tossed hula hoop-wide dough in the air for the pizza slices that were being gobbled by guests. Beyond the food, the street fair was really a kid’s playground, a place where they could make Venetian masks at a craft station or draw with chalk on a balcony overlooking the atrium. For kids and adults, there was bocce, an Italian game that’s similar to bowling, in that a ball, about the size of a small grapefruit, is rolled. The wheels turned — literally and figuratively — in the exhibit as many marveled at the devices of Renaissance engineering.
