Dyslexia school set to open doors in Petal (Hattiesburg American)(leonardo da vinci,leonardo da vinci paintings)
The school will consist of grades 1 through 3, with the goal of preparing students for regular instruction at their school of choice after finishing a two-year program at the 3-D School. Holifield and her colleague, Trudy Abel, who will also work at the school coordinating the evaluation center, presented the idea to Petal Superintendent James Hutto to get his feedback on the need of a dyslexia school. Shirley Duckworth, principal at Petal Elementary School, said the school offers special instruction, but the 3-D School would offer much more. The Petal Board of Aldermen voted to renovate two buildings on South George in April, and the 3-D School will occupy the top floor of one of the buildings. read more
