WASHINGTON (AP) — A bankruptcy judge has ordered a Manhattan art gallery owner to turn over more than 200 pieces of artwork — including pieces by Leonardo da Vinci and Jackson Pollock — until it’s determined who actually owns them. Salander must allow Joseph Sarachek, the consultant operating Salander-O’Reilly Galleries LLC’s bankruptcy estate, to take 231 pieces of art that Sarachek thinks may belong to the gallery. Sarachek is conducting an inventory of the Manhattan art gallery’s assets amid allegations that Salander and the gallery traded and sold artwork they didn’t own to pay off debts. However, he and his wife — who are also under Chapter 11 protection — are planning to sell their Manhattan townhouse and home in Millbrook, New York. read more
