New Leonardo Work Delights Historians (BellaOnline)- Topic: leonardo da vinci, leonardo da vinci paintings

It is said to depict the child bride Bianca Sforza, the daughter of Ludovico Sforza, Duke of Milan from 1452-1508 and wife to the Duke’s army captain, Galeazzo Sanseverino, a patron of Leonardo’s. This fact, combined with the knowledge that one of Leonardo’s patrons was her husband, albeit for a short period of time, would make this a likely possibility. Professor Martin Kemp of Oxford University has already penned a book on this work, with intent to publish should the work turn out in fact to be Leondardo’s. Leonardo has always been a fascination to art historians, earlier in 2009, a work attributed to Andrea del Verrocchio, in whose studio Leonardo apprenticed, was claimed to contain two figures done by the hands of Leonardo. The work depicting the beheading of Saint John the Baptist, is in the Museo del’Opera del Duomo in Florence.
