A curator at the Louvre Museum in Paris has stumbled upon some unknown drawings on the back of a painting by Leonardo da Vinci that look like they might be by the Italian master himself, the Louvre said yesterday. The extraordinary find was made by chance, when Louvre staff unhooked Leonardo’s The Virgin and Child with Saint Anne from the museum wall as part of a broad programme of study and restoration of paintings by Leonardo, including the Mona Lisa. Controversy has raged over the reason for the swaying of the elegant walkway linking the Tate Modern art gallery on the south bank of the River Thames to St Paul’s Cathedral. The nude image printed on the bags was this news earlier in the year, when an original black-and-white print of the Michel Comte photo fetched $91,000 at auction in New York.

The airline on Tuesday announced that the nonstop flights will be operated by Delta’s Northwest Airlines subsidiary and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. The Detroit New s reports the additional service comes at a time when the airport in Romulus has been losing or reducing service to several international cities, including Dusseldorf, Germany, and Osaka, Japan. Atlanta-based Delta in October acquired Northwest, Michigan’s leading passenger air carrier and the dominant carrier at Detroit Metropolitan Airport. Kurzweil will appear on campus at the University of Advancing Technology (UAT) to receive the honor at the Da Vinci Society’s annual luncheon and colloquium.
