Numerous treasures have been moved to New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art while Britain’s Victoria and Albert Museum is undergoing renovation. Thomas Becket; a golden pendant of a salamander with a square-cut emerald dangling from one ear; and the remains of a tiny statue of the crucified Christ carved by Giovanni Pisano 700 years ago, the New York Post said. The Lions for Lambs star announced his engagement to Szaggars in an interview with German magazine Bunte, but despite his advancing years, insists the pair is in no rush to arrange a date for the ceremony. The sunny season means the return of the Festival of Arts, Pageant of the Masters, Sawdust Art Festival, Art-A-Fair and other events. Summer is just about here a perfect time for preparing a picnic, getting some sun and attending a local art festival! On the same grounds, the Festival of Arts is marking its 76th season with art exhibits and sales, as well as a number of special events. On July 26, the festival will “go green” with presentations of eco-friendly art and design. Down the road, the Sawdust Art Festival is celebrating its 42nd gathering, June 27-Aug. A man flies the world’s smallest one-man helicopter. Gennai Yanagisawa, who runs an electronics equipment company in Matsumoto, central Japan, is planning a demonstration flight of the 75kg (165-pound) one-man aircraft in the city of Vinci, near Florence on May 25 to salute the significance of Da Vinci’s original blueprint of the vertical flight machine. The Guinness World Records have confirmed that Yanagisawa’s helicopter is the smallest model in the world in terms of weight and its rotor length of 3. The businessman developed his helicopter, which also contains a chair, handle bar and footrest, in the late 1990s. Da Vinci designed what is thought to be the first vertical flight machine, “an aerial screw,” in the 1480s, according to Italy’s National Museum of Science and Technology. read more
